Conference Poster

You are invited to submit an abstract to the third Annual TASSA Conference to be held at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut on March 24-25, 2007. The conference theme will be "Essentials for a Better World: Energy, Environment, Food and Health" and our vision is to establish a forum for many young and experienced scientists to explore and develop new collaborative initiatives.

Poster presentations will be held in two categories. These two categories are Institutional and Scientific Presentations.

  1. Institutional Presentations: These posters will introduce institutes, research labs, universities, and other large and small facilities to the TASSA members and conference attendees. Institutional abstracts are restricted to one letter-size page. Abstract submission deadline is February 26, 2007. Abstracts should be submitted via email to "poster@tassausa.org" as attached word documents. The subject line of the email should include the words "Institutional Poster."
  2. Scientific Presentations: Scientific poster session is intended for our members who would like to present their research efforts. There are four sub-categories that encompass the four Technical Groups of TASSA. These four technical groups are;
    • Engineering & Applied Sciences
    • Health & Biomedical Sciences
    • Natural Sciences
    • Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities

We feel that the poster sessions will provide an ideal platform to stimulate the informal exchange of ideas and knowledge. We are particularly hopeful that attendees from Turkey and the USA will have discussions that may result in fruitful collaborations. We would like to note that the poster sessions at previous TASSA conferences were highly popular and successful in meeting these objectives.

General Rules and Guidelines for Scientific Poster Presentations:

  • Abstract submission deadline is February 26, 2007.
  • Conference abstracts will be included in conference proceedings.

Each abstract will be reviewed by the Poster Session Committee for (a) scientific content, (b) the scientific merit of the research, and (c) adherence to standard formatting rules outlined below. Please follow the general rules for the preparation of professional scientific documents for your abstracts. Once the abstract is accepted, corresponding authors will be notified by the technical group members and receive further information regarding poster presentation rules.

Abstracts should be submitted via email to "poster@tassausa.org" as attached word documents. The subject line of the email should include the name of the technical group which is appropriate to review the content of the abstract. In other words, the subject line of the submission email must be one of the following:

  • Engineering & Applied Sciences
  • Health & Biomedical Sciences
  • Natural Sciences
  • Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities

Title - The title should clearly identify the contents of the abstract. Capitalize the first letter of each word except prepositions, articles, and species names.

Authors and Affiliations - Each author name should be entered separately. Each name should be typed as first, middle initial(s) and last name. First names should be spelled out and not just given as an initial. You should provide information on each author's institution/affiliation. Do not give department, division, branch, street address, etc. when completing the institution information. Enter the City and State/Province (if from the United States or Canada) and zip/postal code. Use abbreviations whenever possible.

Abstract Text - Each abstract should consist of no more than 250 words. Do not count your title and author information as part of the abstract body. Insert sub- or superscripts, boldface, italics, or other required symbols as necessary. Tables, if presented, should be as simple as possible since they will be reduced in size to fit in a column approximately 2.5" (6.4 cm) in width when printed in the conference proceedings. Graphics (graphs, pictures, etc.) are not recommended as (1) they are very difficult to properly size in the space available, and (2) will be printed in black and white.
