Bio of Bulent Basol

Bulent Basol is the CEO/Co-Founder of Active Layer Parametrics (ALP), a Silicon Valley startup developing a novel characterization technology for the semiconductor industry. He received his B.S (Bogazici University) and Ph.D. (UCLA) degrees in electrical engineering. After graduation, he participated in several startup companies in California as Founder and CTO and developed new technologies in the fields of photovoltaics (PV) and semiconductors. These technologies included thin film solar cell manufacturing based on nano-ink deposition and electrodeposition approaches, and plating and polishing techniques for fabricating interconnects for integrated circuits. Through the years, Bulent held various positions on the program committees of IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conferences and participated as the leader or member of National Teams formed by the DOE in the field of PV. He has over 100 publications and 167 US patents in the fields of PV, electronic materials processing, and semiconductor manufacturing.

He is a past President of the Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) in Washington D.C. and the American Turkish Association of Southern California. He served TASSA during the last 8 years, first as a member of the transition team that was tasked to re-structure the organization, then as a board member.
