HAVELSAN will attend TASSA 2016 Conference

Ahmet Hamdi Atalay, the new General Manager and CEO of HAVELSAN, tells that “Havelsan is looking for the scientists and scholars around the world to develop new and big projects together”. Having established HAVELSAN’s objectives for the year 2023 as a turnover of $1.5 billion and an export share corresponding to 30 percent of total turnover, Atalay mentions that HAVELSAN will become one of the most favoured companies for employees.

Atalay says that “HAVELSAN has four main areas of interest: Training and Simulator Technologies, Command and Control, e-transformation and Cyber Security. In ‘Training and simulator technologies’ area we are one of the leading companies in the world. There are only a handful of companies in the world, who are able to develop mission simulators, and we believe that we are one of the best in this area. In the future, we want to expand our proficiency and expertise in the area of simulators to a broader spectrum, which we can describe as ‘Training Technologies.’ Simulators will eventually become a fundamental tool for training technology. For this reason, we have renamed our relevant department, the ‘Training Simulator Technologies and Test Systems Department’ and developing training technologies will be one of our primary activities.

Another area we are working on is ‘command and control.’ We are conducting very important projects in this area, and in particular are developing solutions that would modernise and increase the effectiveness of the Turkish Armed Forces, and provide smart solutions for both existing and future defence systems.

Our third area is ‘informatics and e-transformation.’ We have taken part in large-scale informatics projects which will enable the digital transformation of many institutions. We will continue with ever more activities in this area.

Another area to which we attach great importance is ‘cyber security.’ We are already making significant investments in this area. We have formed a special team, as well as a separate department. We have a rapidly growing team of qualified personnel who have joined our company both from Turkey and abroad. As a consequence, cyber security is our newest and most rapidly growing area.

Our vision is to work on these four areas without losing focus; to develop our own technologies and to bring together our products and solutions as a ‘package’ when presenting them to our customers. And while we are doing all this, we also aim to utilise the latest technologies available, and not just using them, also working on developing them further.

Based on an ecosystem approach, we wish to utilise, in our own solutions and products, the capabilities and skills of all companies - including those outside the defence and aerospace industry - that are either operating within our own area or in other areas that can contribute to us. The most important components of this ecosystem will become our strategic partners. We do not wish to see our company grow in an organic way; we wish to grow together with our ecosystem. We want to cooperate with the companies in our ecosystem and will ensure that they become focused and specialised in specific areas, while avoiding any effort within our own company to develop any expertise in similar areas.

Given the need for human resources that will arise in the upcoming period, we would like HAVELSAN to become one of the most favoured companies for employees. Human resources constitute our most valuable asset. Whenever we see a brilliant mind, we are keen to include him or her in our organisation.

We want to become a centre of attraction not only for cyber security, but also for R&D and innovation in Turkey. In this context, we are using every possible approach to attract human resources to our company. We have publicly announced that we are ready to work with anyone who has proven his/her skills in our areas of activity and who can contribute positively to our organisation; we have received numerous responses to this announcement.
