Candan Tamerler, Vice President of TASSA, is elected for the AIMBE College of Fellows

The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) College of Fellows has elected Candan Tamerler, Vice President of TASSA as a fellow.

AIMBE is a leading honorific society, serving as an advocate for the benefit of medical and biological engineering to the public. Election to the organization as a fellowy  indicates a distinguished career, and provides Professor Tamerler an opportunity to further broaden her impact.

Indeed, Dr. Tamerler's distinguished career has been acknowledged both in the US and Turkey. Dr. Tamerler founded and served as a Director of the Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Research Center. The center was interdisciplinary, in which academics both from the College of Engineering and the College of Arts and Science were engaging. Her research areas focus on molecular biomimetics, bio-nanotechnology, and bio-enabled materials science. Throughout her career, she has published over 90 refereed journal articles, 30 conference proceedings, and 5 book chapters and patents.

The selection process was competitive and robust, starting with the nomination of Candan Tamerler as a AIMBE Fellow candidate. The nomination was peer-reviewed by the College of Fellows Selection Committee, and consequently the entrie College of Fellows voted in favoe of her nomination.
