TASSA’s first regional workshop in Research Triangle, NC

The Turkish American Scientists and Scholars Association (TASSA) is happy to announce a new initiative. Localized events can now be organized by members under the guidance of a protocol developed by TASSA (posted under Forum Highlights at our Web site). The first such event will be held in the Research Triangle area in North Carolina on October 1, 2005. At this workshop, TASSA will honor Prof. Aziz Sancar in recognition of his election as a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2004 and the National Academy of Science in 2005—an outstanding accomplishment for a Turkish-American scientist. His address will be on the general theme of building research careers. Prof. Sancars address will be followed by a panel discussion by a small group of Turkish-American scientists who will draw lessons from their own careers and discuss career development issues facing scientists early in their career.

TASSA invites all members in the vicinity of the Research Triangle to participate in this event. Members will have opportunity to discuss career issues with Prof. Sancar and the panelists and meet informally with other Turkish-American scientists and scholars. The workshop will be conducted in Turkish. More detailed information is provided below:
