TASSA met Kılıçdaroğlu

During his visit to Washington, D.C. TASSA representatives met with Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the leader of Turkey’s main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party (CHP) on December 1st. Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu was accompanied by party’s deputy chairs Umut Oran, Safak Pavey, Sezgin Tanrikulu, Faik Oztrak and former Ambassador of Turkey to the U.S and TASSA Honorary Member, Dr.Osman Faruk Loğoğlu.

TASSA President Haluk Unal, Vice President Levent Guntay Treasurer Refik Soyer, founding members Murat Tarimcilar and Yavuz Oruc represented TASSA. During the meeting, the TASSA group explained various activities of TASSA and particularly the upcoming TASSA 2014 Conference. Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu praised the work done by TASSA and emphasized the need for the Turkish Science Diaspora to collaborate with the academic community in Turkey. He also mentioned that “as CHP we are very connected with the academic world and receive extensive feedback from the academicians on various issues Turkey faces.”  

TASSA was established in 2004 when Faruk Loğoğlu was the ambassador in Washington DC. Dr. Loğoğlu, an academician himself, was the key motivation behind TASSA’s establishment. The TASSA group exchanged memories with Dr. Loğoğlu and expressed gratitude for his leadership during the foundation of TASSA.
