From The President: Fall 2013

Dear Friends of TASSA,

How exciting it is to let you know that the date of the TASSA Biennial meeting is set. It is going to be on March 22-23, 2014. The 2012 meeting was a huge success and we will do our best to make the 2014 conference another success.  Registration and further information will be on the next issue of The Bridge.

In this issue of The Bridge we have two reports from TASSA. The first is the Turkish Science Diaspora Map. TASSA Vice President Levent Guntay prepared this report and it required tedious data work. We thank Levent for his diligent work generating this useful data set. The second report is a collection of funding opportunities that makes the collaboration link between Turkey and the United States stronger.  As you will see there are some serious funding opportunities and I hope you will make the most of it.

We have a new feature in this issue of The Bridge.  From now on, at each issue, we will have an expert from the TASSA community give a short description of their expertise. In this issue Gizem Donmez talks about brain aging. I hope you will this new feature useful.
Finally, we are pleased to inform you that Turkish Cultural Foundation generously agreed for TASSA to use an office space in their Washington Office. We thank G. Lincoln McCurdy and Guler Koknar for making this happen.

As always please share with us your accomplishments and let us feature them in The Bridge and let the whole world know about your hard work.

All the Best,

Haluk Unal
TASSA President
