TASSA Conducts Its 5-Year Review Process

Dear TASSA members,

At its Board Meeting on March 5, 2009, the TASSA Board of Directors approved the appointment of a Peer Review Panel to conduct the 5-year review of our organization. The purpose of this review process will be (1) to review the governance structure, operational efficiency and effectiveness, authority, responsibility, and accountability of various governance bodies of TASSA, (2) to identify the major strengths and weaknesses of TASSA and recommend actions for improving its performance, (3) to complete the review, and submit its findings and recommendations to the Board by the end of November 2009.

The TASSA Board appointed Prof. Murat Tarimcilar to initiate the formation of this review panel and empowered him to recruit individuals from within and outside of TASSA in consultation with qualified experts in organizational assessment and nonprofit governance. Following Prof. Tarimcilar’s recommendation, the Board approved the formation of two groups to carry and complete this review process: a working group and an advisory group.

The TASSA Board further appointed president-elect Aysenil Belger-Arcasoy as the task monitor of the review on behalf of the Board and to act as the conduit between the panel and the Board.

TASSA Board agreed to provide any available documents and open to the panel all TASSA Web site Forum areas necessary for the efficient and transparent conduct of the review.

The TASSA Executive Committee also agreed to assign a budget to accommodate the necessary travel and other related expenses of this panel.
