As TASSA begins a new era...

As I welcome Prof. Banu Onaral’s presidency for the next two years, I bid you a very fond farewell and assume my new position as the past-president. The online TASSA 2007 Special Assembly ended on December 20th, and the results of the elections, which replaced a portion of the positions on the Board effective January 1, 2008, have already been posted on our Web site.

It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Aysenil Belger-Arcasoy is the newly elected president-elect of TASSA who will begin her two-year term of presidency on January 1, 2010. Prof. Belger-Arcasoy works currently at the Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry, University of North Carolina, besides her adjunct appointments at the Department of Radiology and at the Brain Imaging and Analysis Center, Duke University School of Medicine. I extend her my most sincere congratulations and believe that her leadership will add on to Prof. Onaral’s to carry our organization to new levels of success.

I express my heartfelt gratitude to the departing members of the Board for all their contributions and for their bravery to take part in this brand new initiative as its first officers. I congratulate the newcomers and thank the nominees for participating and for demonstrating their dedication and voluntarism to contribute to TASSA.

It has indeed been my privilege to work with a distinguished group of people for the last three years. I will continue to serve on the Board for two more years with the same dedication to our common cause. In the short time since its inception, TASSA has made big strides and I am sure it will continue to do so with a refreshed and able team.

I wish all of you a happy, healthy and successful new year.

Respectfully,

Suleyman Gokoglu Past-President, TASSA
