TASSA re-elects Prof. Haluk Unal as President
Prof. Haluk Unal is re-elected by the Board of Directors
for a second four-year term. 2016-2020 will be his last term in
office according to TASSA bylaws.Under his presidency three TASSA
conferences were held in 2012, 2014, and 2016. In addition, TASSA has
undertaken many activities to bridge scientists in Turkey and the
United States.Haluk Unal is a Professor of Finance at Smith School of

Seker named 2016 Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering Young
Innovator
Erkin
Seker Assistant Professor in the UC Davis Department of Electrical
and Computer Engineering, has been named a 2016 Cellular and
Molecular Bioengineering (CMBE) Young Innovator by The Biomedical
Engineering Society (BMES). Şeker was one of 12 researchers to
receive the honor.

publishes Turkey's research output during the period July 1 2015 -
June 30 2016. According to the report Physical Sciences papers hold
the majority with 26.4%, followed by Chemistry 22.6%.

Turkey's
output of Earth and environment science papers is growing - according
to NatureIndex.com
To geologists and environmental scientists, Turkey has
particular appeal. "Turkey has everything in terms of geological
structures," says geologist, Bora Uzel, whose work analysing
ancient movements in the Anatolian landscape has helped increase the
country's contribution to Earth and environmental journals in the
index. Between 2012 and 2015, this contribution rose from a weighted
fractional count of 4.13 to 6.8.
