Nobel Prize in Chemistry

Along with Thomas Lindahl, Paul L. Mordrich,
Aziz Sancar was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work
on the mechanism of DNA repair. Prof. Sancar is the Sarah Graham Kenan Professor
of Biochemistry, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill, a member of the National Academy of Sciences since 2005, a
member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences since 2006, and an

Yale Cancer Center's Dr. Murat Gunel, Nixdorff-German Professor and chair, department
of neurosurgery, and professor of neurobiology and genetics, Yale

Haven Hospital, has been elected to the National Academy of

Bozkurt named to Popular Science's 'Brilliant 10'

Alper Bozkurt, from North Carolina State
University has been named as one of "Brilliant 10" by
the Popular Science Magazine. Currently working as an Assistant Professor of Electrical
and Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University, Dr.
Bozkurt's research focuses on the Internet of Bionic Things, in
areas ranging from human-animal communication to insect biobots to

Volkan
Vamık awarded the Mary Sigourney Psychoanalysis Award

Vamık Volkan won the 2015 Sigourney Awards -
North American Region.
Being born into the conflict in Cyprus, Vamık Volkan's work
focused on applying a psychoanalytic approach to conflicts. The way
Vamık Volkan applied object relations theory to mental states

On November 19, twenty-four organizations
representing twelve different countries including Turkey, gathered
at the Spain Arts & Culture Center in Washington DC, for the
"First Annual Meeting of the European Scientific
Diasporas."
Harvard Fellow Professor Canan Dağdeviren
and TASSA's managing editor Handan Uslu represented Turkey at the
meeting and participated on two different panels.
