Assistant Professor in Terrestrial Ecology at METU

The Department of Biological Sciences at the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey is inviting applications for an Assistant Professor position in the field of terrestrial ecology. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a PhD and postdoctoral training, an outstanding publication record, demonstrated quantitative skills and a commitment to excellence in research from population to ecosystem levels. Field-based research should be integrated with other approaches (e.g. modelling, computational, molecular, genomic). Successful candidates should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain a high impact, an externally funded research program in ecology, as well as teach and train undergraduate and graduate students in ecology. The successful applicant will join a strong group of ecologists and evolutionary biologists with diverse interests in the Department of Biological Sciences at METU which is a public university and has consistently been ranked as the highest quality research and teaching institutions in Turkey. The successful applicant will receive laboratory and office spaces, free access to the Department's common research infrastructure and 4000 hectares of campus grounds with semi-natural habitats of, a lake, steppe and forest. He/she may also be eligible for accommodation on campus and for start-up funds from METU. Extramural funding opportunities include TUBITAK reintegration fellowships (2232), TUBITAK young investigator grants (3501), TUBITAK research grants (1001/1002), Marie Curie Reintegration Grants, ERC Starting Grants and EU-Horizon 2020 grants. The deadline for applications is May 25th, 2017. Selected applicants will be invited for a seminar in the period of June 10th -25th, 2017. The decision regarding the position is expected to be announced by late June.
