Faculty Positions at Boğaziçi University

Assistant Professor Positions at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering,  Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, Turkey

The Institute of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at the Boğaziçi University, is seeking to fill tenure-track faculty positions starting fall of 2016 until the end of 2017.

Candidates with strong basic science and/or translational foci in any of these broad areas of research interests are encouraged to apply:

  • Biomechanics (preferred background in rehabilitation engineering, musculoskeletal system biomechanics, tissue biomechanics, biomedical robotics…)
  • Biophotonics (Laser-tissue interactions, Spectroscopy, Microscopy, OCT etc)
  • in vitro Diagnostic Technologies (preferred experiences in the next generation laboratory technologies, mobile health devices …)
  • Neural Engineering (preferred experience in neurophysiology, electrophysiology, and neural prostheses…)
  • Tissue Engineering (either coming from a bioengineering/life sciences background with cell/tissue biomechanics, or from engineering with implants/biomaterials experiences, artificial organs, and regenerative medicine...)

Candidates who have already shown strong leadership in their research after their Ph.D. and have graduate level teaching experiences will be preferred. Selected candidates will be expected to send, and later present, their planned research portfolio, expected to be built initially on the already existing infrastructures of BME and Center for Life Sciences and Technologies (medical device dedicated Clean Room, Vivarium, Smart Drugs Lab). It should include their expected growth strategies focusing in one the research interest areas given above, highlighting the synergy with the current strengths of BME.  The first applicant in one of the above interest will be selected in 2016, the selection process will continue in 2017 until all available positions are filled in any thematic order.  Details of the application and evaluation processes are given at the web pages of BME (http://www.bme.boun.edu.tr).
