Abdullah Gul University (AGU) invites applicants from outstanding scholars for the Positions of Founding Chair starting from Fall 2014 until the position is filled.   International candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

AGU is a newly found public university with global ambition in Kayseri, a leading commercial city in Turkey. Through a combination of learning, discovery, and engagement, AGU aims to use knowledge and innovation for the benefit of its members and the wider community.  Having a strong community of international faculty and students with a rich multicultural atmosphere is an integral part of University's vision. AGU admitted its first students in the Fall semester of the 2013-2014 academic year.

Kayseri is an education center with four universities with a population of about 1.3 million.  In addition to its rapidly growing vibrant economy, the city is a transportation hub offering easy access to centers in Europe and Turkey. Besides its renowned culinary specialties, and close proximity to Cappadocia, skiing, trekking and alpinism in Mt. Erciyes, and historical points of interest in and around the city makes Kayseri a center of attraction for many domestic and international visitors.

The Department of Business Administration will operate within the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.  It began its education life with an undergraduate degree program in Business Administration only, and will grow to offer MBA, Executive MBA, and Masters in Finance programs, as well as a Ph.D. degree program in Operations Management, Marketing, Accounting, Organization Studies, and Finance.

Although AGU is a state university, it is independently supported by the AGU Foundation (AGUV). The main function of AGUV is to offer merit-based scholarships to students and grants to faculty members.

Expectations

The successful candidate is expected to establish the department according to international standards of excellence in teaching, research and service.  The responsibilities will include:

  • Developing an appropriate undergraduate and graduate curricula;
  • Developing a state of the art educational and research infrastructure;
  • Creating student mentorship programs;
  • Attracting external research funds;
  • Promoting and facilitating invention and innovation in teaching and research;
  • Building vigorous research programs leading to scholarly publications, patents and value added information;
  • Creating real world links between the business sector and higher education;
  • Meeting faculty and student recruitments;
  • Accreditation;
  • Professional development activities.
Required Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the title of at least Senior Associate-Professor, and hold a Ph.D. degree in Business Management, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Production and Operations Management, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management or a closely related discipline.
